Join us for a special Winter Solstice gathering, the 5th in our Folk Herbalism Series. Welcoming the longest night and celebrating the return of the light.
20th December - 2pm till 6pm at our Loxton Studio
As the year reaches its darkest point, we gather to honour the Winter Solstice, a time for reflection, warmth, celebration and coming together. We’ll embrace the festive spirit with seasonal plants, folk traditions, delicious medicine-making, food and fireside connection.
In this workshop you will learn the folk traditions of the winter solstice with wreath crafting and create your own fire cider, a traditional winter immunity tonic.
We’ll begin with winter wreath crafting, exploring folk protection rituals and traditions of the Solstice. You’ll create your own beautiful wreath to take home with you.
We’ll then move into warming medicine-making, crafting our own Fire Cider and exploring the traditional medicinal uses of oxymels, warming herbs and spices. We’ll also make a delicious, warming apple cider for everyone to share.
We will finish the day by gathering around the fire for a nourishing seasonal stew and fireside connection, making space to slow down, share stories and celebrate the turning of the wheel together.
Each gathering follows the wheel of the year, bringing together seasonal insight, folk herbalism, hands-on making and community.
Our intention is to cultivate a deeper relationship with the natural world and with one another through shared knowledge, seasonal practice, ritual and gathering.
You’ll leave feeling warm, nourished and connected - to the plants, the land, the season, yourself and the people around you.

This event is part of our Folk Herbalism Series following the wheel of the year. Each gathering includes:
- Seasonal insights into the festival and its energy
- Folk herbalism - exploring the magical and medicinal properties of plants
- Connecting with seasonal plants and traditions
- A hands-on herbal creation to take home
- Ritual, seasonal practice and shared knowledge
- A shared seasonal meal and fireside connection to close the gathering
